It’s time to think about planning your club’s 2021/22 open metal detecting competition hunts & gold prospecting shows & events. Once your hunts, shows, and event is defined and setup the next step is to get your event’s information out to the metal detecting & gold prospecting community.

I would like to suggest that one of the places to advertize your hunt, show and event is with MDHTALK.org. To advertize your events at MDHTALK does not cost you anything but a little of your time to email the event information to the website.

The benefits your club’s hunt, show & event gets by advertizing on MDHTALK are:
1st Your hunt, show and event information is put into a searchable database.
2nd The website user or visitor can search the database two different ways.
 A) The site user can search for events by month.
 B) The site user can search for events by state.

3rd Your event will be noted in the monthly MDHTALK news brief.
4th The MDHTALK website gets over 900 to 1000 visitors & viewers a day.

There are two ways to provide your events information to MDHTALK. First just select the Contact US Tab in the upper right hand side of the screen on any website page. Select either:
1st) Email MDHTALK Tab
Or
2nd) Select the Provide Event Information Tab

The information required is listed below.
  • Sponsor cub’s name
  • Event name
  • Event start date with number of event days
  • Location of the event
  • Contact information: email address and or phone number
  • Website link if one is available
  • As much information about the event you want to share with detecting & prospecting community.
  • You can also email a copy of your event’s .pdf file and it will be posted for download by viewers.
So give listing your Club's hunt, show and event with MDHTALK some serious consideration there are many benefits.

For registration and specific rules, please click on the link below. We look forward to seeing you there.

Claim Jumper Hunt - There is two periods of hunting time for the hunt. During the first period, each contestant has their own square (claim) to hunt for lead tokens. At the end of the first period, if the contestant has found all the lead tokens in his/her claim, the contestant can (claim jump) into any other contestants claim. At the end of the second period, the contestant can cash their lead tokens in for actual gold nuggets!

Silver Hunt - All contestants have a specific allotment of time to hunt for silver coins and special painted pennies. At the end of the hunt, the contestants get to keep the coins and trade the painted pennies for prizes. This hunt is set up to be a competition between contestants utilizing a common field for everyone.

50 - 50 Hunt -The amount of awards for this hunt depends upon how many contestants there are. Half the proceeds collected from this specific hunt will be placed in the hunting field. The contestants are free to hunt the entire field for an alloted time. This hunt is the last hunt in the detecting field so keep in mind that there is left-over silver coins from previous hunts.

Youth Hunts -There are two age groups of youth hunts that all ages of children can get in on the act by detecting coins.

Get ready to get dirty, have a ton of fun, and git some GOLD!

Your GPAA-LDMA National Dirt Party: 5-Day Common Dig is just around the bend. Dirt Party Participants will be working for their gold split at the end of the outing. All gold recovered during the operation is split between the participants. Work hard and Digger may enhance your final split.

Dirt Parties are much more than just recovering gold. It’s family and friendship! You will often hear the “ol timers” share their stories and experiences about “the club.” I’ll encourage you to partake, and listen at any campfire . . . the entertainment, history and knowledge is always a hoot!

Whether you’re just getting started in gold prospecting on the weekends or you’re a seasoned “sourdough” veteran in the dirt for years, the common dig operation, seminars, hands-on instruction and activities offered during these five-day events will help you get the “In-The-Dirt” experience, fun and adventure for you and your whole family... plus some gold too!

As a Dirt Party Participant, you will receive a vial with a picker or two in it as a “thank you” from LDMA, as well as a black sand dirt bag that has a split of the gold recovered from the common operation.
